As Prime Minister Boris Johnson met with his “new look” Cabinet last Friday, the dynamic Leader declared “We are here to deliver for the people of this country who elected us to serve them. The people’s government has to get on with delivering the people’s priorities and in the next few years we must get on with our basic work and you know what it is. We are going to cut crime, we are going to cut homelessness, we are going to tackle waiting lists in our NHS.”
As the Cabinet meeting continued the Prime Minister and his new dynamic team re-committed themselves to the plans of building 40 more hospitals, recruiting 20,000 more police officers and hiring 30,000 more nurses, thereby setting a sustainable plan for effective development within the United Kingdom.
Many biased commentators have said that Boris is only intent on doing one thing, delivering Brexit while the other issues of governing may be disregarded. However, the reality is, despite his thorough dedication to getting Brexit right, Boris has a holistic vision for the United Kingdom.
As a matter of fact, his dedication to getting Brexit right is as a result of his vision for seeing the UK and her citizens prosper in a more successful environment.
The Prime Minister’s vision for the United Kingdom has its foundation in One Nation Conservatism which was shared by Disraeli and the great man Winston Churchill. What we have seen so far from Boris Johnson is a true masterclass of leadership where he has been intent on reach out to each and every class of citizens regardless of their beliefs, heritage or political persuasion to ensure that they become part of the UK’s development.
Prime Minister Johnson’s leadership is geared towards releasing the true potential of all citizens.
As a matter of fact, we have seen the Prime Minister in numerous visits to factories and industrial areas, showing that he is a Prime Minister for the working individual, something the electorate confirmed when Labour’s red wall was torn down in the December 2019 election.
In essence, Boris Johnson has shown the narrow-minded opposers that he is more than Brexit, he is about the United Kingdom. This was a quality thoroughly demonstrated at the last Prime Minister’s Questions in Westminster when Boris easily dismissed the unpatriotic attempts of Jeremy Corbyn to earn political points.
Statements such as “’I can assure him that by transforming the countries economy and by raising productivity we will ensure that defence and security are amply provided for” show that Boris has an agenda geared not only towards economic prosperity but rather people-centred development.
Many individuals would have tried to spin a narrative with the recent resignation of Sajid Javid but again we must realise that Prime Minister Johnson is not operating by “guess” but rather on a well planned agenda to engineer real prosperity. It must be noted that the rumoured “mansion tax” and other proposals by Javid, who despite being a great lad, could never align with the sustainable vision of Boris.
While many were sad to see him go, we must understand that economic growth needs leadership to prevent economic decisions that are not pragmatic.
Boris is more than Brexit, the events of last week shows Boris has a plan and is working towards a better United Kingdom.
