Why I’m backing Boris in this Tory beauty pageant

This leadership contest was turning into an identikit Tony Blair TV prepped media circus. With May’s former cabinet colleagues and over optimistic backbenchers struggling to distinguish themselves from her failed Brexit plan.

That was until I saw Boris take to the stage. Once again, his energy and star quality stood him head and shoulders above his rivals. That’s not in itself difficult as most of these people are tarnished with service in Theresa May’s cabinet. After three long years the moment that we’ve been waiting for had finally arrived. The assurance that someone with some ambition, drive and leadership talent took to the stage. Someone who Labour know will deliver an absolute whipping to Corbyn and his 1970s Communist tribute band at the next general election, or any election for that matter.

As someone who has walked the Welsh valleys and fought Labour in their heartlands, I can tell you that the man they fear is Boris Johnson. Labour couldn’t care less about the other candidates. This is also about the people. The man who they will put their trust in is Johnson. They trusted him with London and Brexit. They will trust him with the country.

If we don’t elect this man as our next leader and Prime Minister, we will be opening the door to the cataclysmic danger of allowing Corbyn and his momentum shock troopers into 10 Downing Street. That’s something that cannot be allowed for the sake of this nation.

We have a responsibility to our country in this moment of national decision, to set aside leave or remain and vote for someone to keep that Hamas loving, IRA supporting, Anti-Semitic, Britain hating, bearded buffoon out of power.

Throughout the history of these islands great leaders are referred to by their surnames, It is time for Johnson to have his shot at getting on that list.
